Marian & I have just returned from the ISPA Handa NZ Open in Queenstown where we enjoyed seeing the win taken by a New Zealander after a gap of 14 years. Michael Hendry was a popular winner, although we had been watching another New Zealander, Ben Campbell, over the 3rd & 4th rounds and were really hoping he could pull off a win. As you may know, there was a three way play-off between Hendry, Campbell and Australian Kennedy after round 4, and unfortunately both Kennedys and Campbell’s tee shots went into the water on the re-played 18th hole. After the disappointment of being in a play-off and missing out on a win at the NZ PGA Championships in Palmerston North the previous weekend, Campbell is clearly one to be watched in the future. Millbrook and The Hills were in pristine condition for the tournament and Hendry commented that both the courses were streets ahead of the course he had been playing on in Mexico the previous weekend with the world’s top players! It was great to meet a number of you who were also at the tournament – thanks for coming up and saying hello!
